Our friend Mary is speaking for the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust on Friday and will not be able to join this railcar event. Taking her place is Long Beach resident and Holocaust Survivor, Gerda Seifer, who was featured in the book, Freedom Writers, which was eventually optioned as a film starring Hilary Swank.

Henry was a dear friend of mine. I met Henry in 2001 when he agreed to talk to my choir students about his book. My school bought a copy of his book for all 160 of my choir students. He fell in love with my students and we did various projects together from 2001-2006. My daughter, who grew up knowing Henry and Inge, was so moved by Henry’s story that she had Henry’s words “If you must hate, hate hate” tattooed down her spine in Hebrew. Henry saw the pictures and couldn’t believe that she had done this. I know he put the pictures I sent him on his site and shared how moved he was by the gesture. Tevia, my daughter, shares this story with many people and says how not hating is the backbone of her life and that Henry and his book had everything to do with that. He was a part of our life and he played a huge part in the upbringing of my two daughters. He even wrote my girls letters telling them what was most important in life and how to forgive and move on when times get tough. Thanks for giving me a space to share these memories. I pray that all the money will be raised for this project.

How very very exciting. You’re doing everything I always attempted to do while living in NYC but didn’t have the backing of ‘anyone’ really.!! All on my own. Obviously, you can see I did not get very far. I have a friend you met in L.A. Wendy Kaysing. She has been in many movies, shorts, etc. Would it be ok if I contacted her regarding your requests?
God be with your project and if there is anything I can do from Las Vegas, let me know!
My background was doing scripts for are you ready…Monsanto, chicken disease films, lOL LOL LOL LOL! I don’t eat chicken unless it is organic , LOL

A beautiful story: the life of Henry Oertelt. I had a friend, Rachmiel Frydland, who would sneak into the Warzaw Ghetto and share with the people. Many Jews prayed with Rachmiel to receive the Lord the day before they died. One time Rachmiel slept in a coffin in a funeral parlor to get some rest. He was the most humble man I have ever known. I was in his home several times. What a blessing it will be to be in Heaven with Henry and Rachmiel … and our Lord.

Hi Walt, thanks for your comment. No, actually the “profits” will just go towards Holocaust Education and the support for a new Holocaust museum in Chandler, AZ. We do not want to profit off of the Holocaust, however, we do believe it’s an extremely important story for future generations and one we feel strongly about supporting.
